SWEETWATER-Just because you have cancer
does not mean you can't still be beautiful.
There are several local resources and
great volunteers to help you look your best at no cost through the
American Cancer Society.
Free wigs are available through
Sweetwater Institute of Cosmetology on East North Street (Sweetwater-Vonore Road) for women who have lost their hair due to
Linda Jenkins, who formerly owned a
cosmetology at that same location and is now a very active volunteer
and advocate for cancer patients, recently came and trained the
students at the current school on how to properly fit a wig. The
school will shave the ladies' hair for free then fit them with a wig.
The wigs are very stylish and modern,
with Jenkins saying some of the ladies who have worn them like the
wigs better than their natural hair.
"Cosmetologists have a big hand
helping people though this journey," Jenkins said.
