MADISONVILLE-A Vonore man will spend
six months in jail after he pleaded guilty to reckless vehicular
homicide from a 2011 wreck that left one dead.
Justin Alexander Phillips, 20. Deer
Path Lane, received an eight-year sentence, but will have to serve
only six months before he is eligible for parole.
The wreck occurred on Dec. 10, 2011,
when Phillips ran off Sweetwater/Vonore Road and struck a tree,
killing passenger, Andrew Hayes.
Tennessee Highway Patrolman Chris Best
said a blood test of Phillips blood showed he had an alcohol level of
0.08 in his system, putting him just over the legal limit.
In addition to serving six months and
being on parole for eight years, Phillips will also lose his license
for three years.
