MADISONVILLE-A jury found a
Madisonville man not guilty of assault more than a year and half
after he and a neightbor got in a fight.
Jonathan German, 38, left the courtroom
a free man after the jury found him not culpable for the shooting of
The shooting occurred on May 4 and
Monroe County Sheriff's Detective Doug Brannon said German, Brunner
Road, Madisonville, allegedly shot McKenzie in what was thought to
have been a dispute between the town men’s families.
Brannon said the men's homes share a
common driveway and that German was sitting in a car when McKenzie
approached the vehicle with a hammer in a threatening manner.
German allegedly responded by pulling a
gun and shooting McKenzie twice in the upper part of his body.
McKenzie managed to make his way back to his house where law
enforcement later found him.
McKenzie was taken to UT Medical Center
where he was treated and released. German was arrested and charged
with aggravated assault.
