MADISONVILLE-There will be no property
tax increase for Monroe County property owners.
The County Commission Tuesday night
unanimously passed the budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year with no tax
The tax rate will be $2.09 per $100 of
assessed value. The rate is different than last year, but only
because of a recent property reappraisal just completed across the
County Mayor Tim Yates gave an update
on the county's efforts to run the Monroe County Airport since April
1. Yates said the county has sold $52,703 worth of fuel and brought
in $24,600 in hanger rent.
He asked that the commission allow the
county to continue to run the airport though the end of the fiscal
year and found no objections.
The commission approved Yates' request
to form a committee of hunters and fishermen to advocate hunting and
fishing interests in the county. Members are: County Commissioners
Harold Hawkins, Roger Thomas, County Mayor Tim Yates, Mark Clinton,
Vance Bivens, Gary Duckett and Brent Butler.
