It may not be unusual for teenagers to
take joyrides, but a Tellico Plains teenager took one a bit too far,
allegedly stealing a Tellico Plains police car on Wednesday.
According to warrants filed by Tellico
Plains Police Officer Bill Illingworth, Jacob Leach, 19, Scott
Street, stands charged theft over $10,000, failure to stop for
officers' stop, halt and frisk command, and vandalism over $1,000.
TPPD and the Monroe County Sheriff's
Office pursued the stolen car into the Coker Creek community and
allegedly found Leach and the car stuck of the roadway.
Police said Leach then fled from the
officers who eventually caught him on foot. Officers said Leach
confessed to stealing the car and said he acted alone.
It was a busy week for law enforcement
officers in Monroe County.
Sweetwater Police Narcotics Agent Marty
Kyle charged Daniel Rockholt with the manufacture of methamphetamine
and possession of drug paraphernalia after executing a search warrant
at his Christianburg Lane home on Tuesday.
