The Vonore Middle School and Sequoyah High School cheer squads both participated in University of Tennessee Spirit Day at Neyland Stadium on Saturday.
The event, hosted by the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA), included approximately 1,000 middle and high school cheer and dance squads from around the state of Tennessee. This is the second year that the Vonore and Sequoyah squads have taken part in this event.
They started at 8 a.m. on Saturday with registration at Thompson-Boling Arena and spent the next few hours practicing the routine taught to them by both UCA and the UT Cheer Squad before taking the field at Neyland Stadium to perform to “Rocky Top” in front of the thousands in attendance prior to the Western Kentucky-Tennessee football game. The girls all received Spirit Day T-shirts and tickets for the game.
