MADISONVILLE-A Madisonville woman was
arrested Monday after she allegedly shoplifted, then ran from law
Madisonville Police Sgt. David Wear
said it was just after 9 p.m. when he was called to the Walmart on a
call of shoplifting, He was told the alleged thief was driving a
dark-colored Dodge mini van, and he spotted the vehicle before he got
to the store.
He stopped the van in the General
Sessions Court parking lot, but as he was approaching it, the driver
Wear gave chase and followed the van
down Tellico Street and onto College Street and then onto Ridgecrest
Drive. Wear said during the chase, several items were thrown out of
The van eventually stopped in a
driveway on Ridgecrest Drive and the driver was identified as Rebecca
Coon, 41. Wear said the items thrown out of the van were later
recovered and identified as merchandise stolen from Walmart.
Coon was also allegedly found to be in
possession of green pills identified as Alprazolam.
Coon was arrested and charged with
shoplifting, possession of a schedule IV narcotic, felony evading and
