MADISONVILLE-It was one day in court
that mainly led to a lot of resets, but Criminal Court Judge Amy
Reedy did hear several pleas, including one from a man who received a
combined nine years on burglary charges.
Joshua C. Stinnett, 20, Beulah Road,
Tellico Plains, was arrested on burglary charges from this past
February when took items worth nearly $1,000.
Stinnett pleaded guilty to two charges
of aggravated burglary and one charge of theft between $100-$1,000.
He had a second charge of theft between $100-$1,000 dismissed.
Stinnett received three years on each
plea, but the sentences run concurrently and he only needs to serve
30 percent before he is eligible for parole. He will receive credit
for the five months he has already served.
Other pleas Reedy heard during her
appearance in Monroe County last week included:
Clarence Turner, 52, North Niota Road,
Athens, DUI sixth offense, $3,000, two years, lose license for eight
years; habitual motor vehicle offender violation, two years.
Douglas Lee Deck Jr., 22, Ellis Street,
Vonore, theft of property $100-$1,000, two years suspended, make
Fred L. Shields, address unavailable,
DUI, $365, six months suspended after 48 hours.
