SWEETWATER-Some area children are
benefiting from a special program at the Marcella Center in
Thanks to an $8,000 grant from the
Appalachian Community Fund, the Marcella Center was able to start an
after-school learning program in June. The grant came to the center
after school got out for summer vacation, but the Marcella Center was
allowed to go ahead and run the program beginning in June.
The program will continue as a true
after-school program when school resumes Aug. 8.
Director Pat King said as many as 43
children would come for the classes this summer. They children
completed a variety of arts and crafts projects, took field trips and
learned many other things.
