Less than a week after it was damaged
by fire, Federal agents from multiple agencies were on the scene of
Pro Tech Finishing on Thursday.
The 40,000 square foot plant is located
in the Niles Ferry Industrial Park off Highway 411 in Vonore. The
plant puts finishing material on various products and keeps dangerous
chemicals on site.
Agents from the Environmental
Protection Agency, Department of Energy and the Tennessee Valley
Authority Office of the Inspector General were seen removing cabinets
and computers from the facility.
No one would comment on what was
happening and the US Attorney declined to comment on the case.
The plant caught fire last Sunday
morning, but no one was in the building and it suffered smoke and
water damage, but no chemicals were said to have escaped the
