When school begins in August,
Madisonville Intermediate School Principal Terry Moser will team up
with a new assistant principal to lead the school.
Monroe County Director of Schools Mike
Lowry hired Melissa Moree, a familiar face at MIS, as the new
assistant principal at the school on Monday afternoon.
Moree, who grew up in Vonore and
currently resides in Madisonville, has spent most of her educational
career at Madisonville Intermediate School. She began working with
federal programs, intervening with students who were struggling with
reading, and then moved into the classroom full-time, where she has
been for approximately 10 years.
"I've had a lot of opportunities to
learn and grow because I've seen the school system from different
sides," said Moree.
The job as assistant principal,
however, will be her first true administrative role.
"I've had my administrative license
for several years and I've taken on different roles, like working
with the data team," said Moree. "When I went into education, I
always had it in the back of my mind to do that. I just needed to
wait on the right opportunity and get more experience."
