MADISONVILLE-The Madisonville sewer
plant project has been going on for many years, and at one point was
to be located on TRDA property in Vonore, but Monday night the Mayor
and Board of Aldermen voted to buy property in Madisonville for the
Alderman Augusta Davis, who oversees
the town's Sewer Department, said he had looked at several
properties and felt a piece of land across from Huntington
Subdivision was the best place.
"It covers 14.36 acres," Davis
said, "and we won't need it all, but we might as well take it
all. There's nothing else that can be done with the property."
At $10,000 an acre, the total cost
would be $143,600, money Davis said would be reimbursed to the town
from the money that will be used to build the plant.
"The plant would cover about 7-9
acres," Davis said.
