Vonore Elementary School will have a
new principal in the fall.
Monroe County Director of Schools Mike
Lowry told The Advocate & Democrat on Thursday that Priscilla
Gregory will not return to her role as principal at the school next
"We are changing principals at Vonore
Elementary," said Lowry. "The job should be posted online today [Thursday]."
Lowry said he spoke with Gregory on
Wednesday and informed her of the decision. While he declined to give
details on the decision, Lowry did note the school's test scores were
not to blame.
"Anything we do, we always do in the
best interest of our students," he said. "We just do what we
think is right for the students in Monroe County and for the school."
Gregory will be able to continue
working in the school system, said Lowry.
