MADISONVILLE-With renovation projects
at Tellico Plains Elementary School and Vonore Elementary School
coming to a close, the Monroe County School System is gearing up for
another large project.
"If we're going to replace the [dome] roof at Coker Creek Elementary this summer, I need to get started on
that right way or it won't be ready when school starts," Maintenance Supervisor Charles Underwood told the Board of Education
on Thursday night.
A critical project
In a presentation of planned projects
to consider in the budget, Underwood called the sole school in Coker
Creek a "priority project." The estimated total cost of the
project is $211,912 and there would be a 10-year warranty on the new

Due to the timing of the project,
however, there was a question as to which fiscal year the budget
would be funded. If the bid is awarded to a company in June, the
project will have to be financed out of the current budget, which
ends on June 30.
