MADISONVILLE-Like most towns and
cities, Madisonville is always looking for ways to attract new
business. An attractive, easy to reach industrial park is one of the
ways a municipality can do this.
Monroe County Director of Economic
Development Shan Harris told the Madisonville Mayor and Aldermen that
both fiber optics and a railway spur line are two things that would
help bring companies to the industrial park on Highway 411.
"I've heard that Charter Cable and
ATT are both interested in putting fiber optics in the park," Harris said, "but it's hard to confirm such things as companies
don't like to announce what they're planning. But with what
companies are doing today, they usually won't really consider a
place that doesn't have high-speed Internet available."
