Local citizens have a great opportunity
to step up and help a great organization that helps a lot of people.
There will be a Golf Outing at the
Kahite Golf Course to support the Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department.
The tournament will be a scramble format beginning at 9 a.m. on
April 20. Kahite is located at 400 Kahite Drive Vonore. All are
welcome to play.
Men and women can form teams of four players. The
entry fee of $40 per person covers prize money, range balls, lunch
and closest to the pin contests including a Ford car sponsored by
Jackie Jones dealership. Players must pay a golf fee of $39 (member
guest rate), which also covers 18 holes of play and a golf cart.

Non golfers can support the Fire
Department by sponsoring a golf hole for $100, or $250 for a
scoreboard sponsorship, or $1,000 as a tournament sponsor.
The Hopewell Fire Department began 25
years ago as part of the Hopewell Community Club (Ruritan). They
started with a donated pickup truck with a water tank, engine powered
pressure system and hose reel. The community held fundraisers to
build the community club building which also houses the Fire
Department at 1968 Federal Road in Madisonville.
Today the department has two pumper
trucks, one tanker truck, two brush fire fighting trucks and a
The Fire Department covers the area
between Vonore and Madisonville and from Highway 411 to the Tellico
Reservoir or Griffith Branch Road approximately 1,200 to 1,500 homes
and farms. The department is always looking for able-bodied men and
women to join the department as firefighters or first responders.
