MADISONVILLE-The County Commission
Tuesday night quickly approved County Mayor Tim Yates' request for $68,000 to go toward running the Monroe County Airport through June
Of the $68,000, $60,000 will go for
plane fuel while the remaining $8,000 will go for liability
The county took control of the airport
April 1 after parting ways with longtime fixed-base airport operator
The vote was quick but by no means
unanimous at the called meeting, with Commissioners Marty Allen,
Wanda Alexander, Richard Kirkland, Judy Lee and Bennie Moser voting
for the funding request. Commissioners Bill Bivins, Harold Hawkins,
Bill Shadden and Roger Thomas voted against the mayor's request, but
were out voted 5 to 4.
