MADISONVILLE-What started as a
shoplifting call at Walmart eventually led to drug charges against
one person Monday night.
Madisonville Police Sgt. Chris Wilburn
said it was around 6:30 p.m. when he got a call to go to Walmart for
suspected shoplifting. Wilburn said he talked with the loss
prevention officer who told him a woman had taken several items and
concealed them as she left the store.
Once outside the store, the loss
prevention officer confronted the woman and she allegedly began
throwing the items at him. The woman's male companion then shoved
the officer, nearly knocking him down, and the duo took off in a car,
according to police.
The loss prevention officer did manage
to get the tag number on the car before it was gone.
