Got a great photo of life in Monroe
County? We want it!
The Advocate and Democrat is looking
for those photos taken by citizen photographers. In addition, the
newspaper is offering a $50 monthly reward for the best submitted
photo and will finish the year with a special prize and recognition
for the top citizen photographer, said Publisher Thomas Wilson. The
selection each month will be made by the staff of The Advocate &
Democrat from the photos selected to run in the newspaper.
"We are not really looking for
photos of a beautiful sunset but more of shots fitting into the
categories of news, news features, tourism, business, and education," said Tommy Millsaps, editor of The Advocate & Democrat.
This can be a great photo of a "dinner
on the grounds" at your church, he added.

The only photos to qualify for the
monthly contest are those selected to run in The Advocate & Democrat. Photos must be submitted as a digital version and attached
to an e-mail describing the photo, and including names of people in
the photo (if possible).
For the best quality photos, we
encourage the use of pictures from digital cameras and not cell phone
pictures unless they are taken with high-quality and high megapixel
Submissions must have name, address
and phone number of photographer. Photo must be taken in Monroe
County of people from Monroe County. Exceptions would be Monroe
County citizens participating in an event in another area. Photos
cannot be more than 30 days old. Winners will be announced in The Advocate & Democrat published closest to 15th of the following
