MADISONVILLE-It's been a never ending
project for Madisonville to build its new sewer plant. After more
than five years of planning to locate the plant in the Tellico
Reservoir Development Agency's industrial park in Vonore, that idea
was scrapped after the town and TRDA couldn't agree on a price for
TRDA to process the waste water.
Alderman Gus Davis, who oversees the
Sewer Department, said several new locations had been looked at and
he thought the best place was on Pedigo Road across from the current
"We need to do something and we need
to do it ASAP," Davis said. "We've got the lines almost to
Tellico Lake, but the engineer said building across from the old
plant would work. That would keep it here and I think we need to look
at building there."
The appraised price of the property is $60,000, but owner James Lee said he would be willing to negotiate.
