A new, but familiar face will be
stepping in next week as the executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Monroe Area.
Paul Willson, board president of the
Boys and Girls Club of the Monroe Area, announced this week that
Chief Professional Officer/Executive Director Jamison Sliger will
leave his position with the organization at the end of March to
assume a position at Athens City Recreation Department.
"We really appreciate all that
Jamison has done in his time here to push our Club even further along
in many ways," said Willson. "Very fortunately, we have a great
staff, and a very dedicated board of directors, that will use our
momentum to move our organization even further along."
Sliger, who assumed the role of chief
professional officer in May 2011 after Melanie Phillips resigned from
the position she had held for 13 years, called it a "pleasure and
honor" to have worked with the organization.
"I've enjoyed working here and I'm
going to miss it," Sliger told The Advocate & Democrat. "It
was a pleasure to work with everyone on youth development and I hope
that the emphasis on youth development in the future in the
surrounding area is led by the Boys & Girls Club of the Monroe
Area. Anytime that I hear their name, I am sure it will be lined with
grace and accolades."
Dr. Anthony Tricoli, a current board
director and former college president, has agreed to accept the
executive director position on an interim basis.
