TELLICO PLAINS-A Tellico Plains couple
was arrested Monday night after they were spotted running a high rate
of speed on New Highway 68.
Tellico Plains Police Capt. Daniel
Hampton said he saw a blue Ford Ranger pulling out of Ian's Market
and noticed neither the driver or the passenger was wearing a
seatbelt. As he was watched, the truck took off at a high rate of
speed.
Hampton followed, turning on his lights
and siren, but the truck kept going. Hampton said he followed the
truck onto Unicoi Church Lane, then onto Unicoi Church Road before
turning onto Croft Road.
From there, the truck turned onto
Beaty's Chapel Road then onto Mecca Pike where two Monroe County
Sheriff's Deputies were waiting with stop sticks. The driver
managed to avoid those and drove another half mile before coming to a
stop on Mary Hunt Road. See full story in the Wednesday, Feb. 27, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
