MADISONVILLE-A Madisonville man was
originally charged with aggravated assault, a grand jury kicked it up
to attempted second-degree murder, but he ended up pleading to the
original charge after the state decided it couldn't make the second
charge stick.
Aaron Paul Craig, 35, Sweetwater/Vonore
Road, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated assault and felony
evading arrest, receiving a combined five years at 30 percent. Craig
has already spent five months in jail, meaning he will be eligible
for parole in about a year and a half.
Craig was arrested on Oct. 13 last year
after a fight in the Walmart parking lot. Madisonville Sergeant Chris
Wilburn said it was just before 9:30 p.m. Friday night when he
responded to the fight and saw the victim lying on the ground.
Wilburn said witnesses told him the person responsible was pulling
out of the parking lot in a silver Dodge Durango. See full story in the Sunday, Feb. 24, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
