TELLICO PLAINS - The Tellico Plains Bears were looking for avoid losing their fourth straight game Thursday night as they faced off versus the Polk County Wildcats. They were also looking to send their Seniors Robert Vandervort, Tyler Peeler and Lee Gooch out on a winning note on Senior night.

The Bears would go 11- 11 from the strike and hit 7 three pointers to avoid a four game losing streak and send the seniors out with a bang with a 54-50 win over the Wildcats.

Polk County would jump out to a 4-0 lead early in the first. Then Colton Carter would hit back to back threes to finally get the Bears fired up. The Bears and Wildcats would battle throughout the first quarter and the Wildcats would take the lead 15-10 going into the second quarter. Peeler, Vandervort, Austyn Balcom, Colton Carter, Cody Murphy and Devin Collier would all score and lift the Bears to a 29-24 lead at the half. The Bears would keep the lead throughout the third quarter and take a 44-35 lead into the fourth quarter.

Vandervort and Peeler would extend the Bears lead to 50-37 midway through the fourth. Polk County would not be done yet as they would go on a 10-0 run to cut the Bears lead to just three 50-47 late in the fourth quarter.

Peeler would hit two from the strike to give the Bears a 52-47 lead. Then Polk County would hit a desperation three to cut the Tellico lead to two 52-50. Polk County would foul  Balcom sending him to the line for two free throws. Balcom would hit both free throws to give Tellico the 54-50 victory.

The Bears would be lead by Vandervort 17 points and 8 rebounds, Peeler 14 points and 6 rebounds and Carter would throw in 11 points and 4 asissts. With the win the Bears are 14-10 overall. The Bears will close out the regular season Tuesday night at Hiwassee Dam (NC).
