SWEETWATER-On a February night, the
crowd was small and the meeting was short, but Sweetwater
commissioners tackled some important business Monday.
The commission unanimously voted to
support the city's application to become a Main Street city.
The Tennessee Main Street Program
through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community
Development follows national guidelines and the prestigious program
encourages public-private partnerships to bring about downtown
revitalization. The program provides technical assistance to the Main
Street cities. There are currently two dozen certified Main Street
cities in Tennessee. See full story in the Sunday, Feb. 10, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
