When Sequoyah Lady Chiefs' oppoВnents drive to the basket,
they often find a big roadblock in the way of 6'3 senior post player Kassidi Freeman.
Freeman recently topped 500 blocks and now stands at 502 rejections in her career, closing in
on the state record of 550 blocks. "We are proud of her accomplishВments," said Chiefs head coach Eddie Gambrell. "She's
certainly been a force in the paint for us." Gambrell said not only is Freeman a force on defense,
her unselfish play on offense, taking up double teams, setting screens and passing the ball is
important to the team even when she is not scoring.
The Chiefs hope to make a deep run in the upcoming post season,
which will not only meet team goals but will also give Freeman more chances for blocks. The longer
the season runs the better chance she has at history.
