MEMPHIS - Their name may be Victory University, but it was
the Hiwassee Tigers men's basketball team that found themselves victorious on Friday evening in
Memphis.
The Tigers came away with a 79 to 77
win over the NCCAA's ninth ranked team in the country. Hiwassee College Men's Basketball coach,
Rodney Nelson, stated, "This was a great win for our program. It was the most complete 40
minutes we've played this year. We overcame some size differences and played really well!"ќ
There were four Tigers who scored in double-digits. Justin
Browner lead the team with 19, Lazerick Boyd scored 14, Cody Carson had 12, and Andrew Hansen shot
11. "Hansen came up big late and hit some big threes when we were down,"ќ said Coach Nelson. He
went on to say, "Justin tied the game and then hit a free throw to put us up by one. Howie Meadows
hit another free throw and our defense held to win the game."
