TELLICO PLAINS -Friday night was another key district matchup for the Tellico Plains Bears. The Bears were looking to win their fourth straight game Friday night. The Bears would use the hot hand from 3- point land to earn a victory over the Rockwood Tigers.

The Bears would drain eight 3- pointers on the night. The Bears would have two players in double figures on the night Dakota Rinehart and Tyler Peeler. Bears head coach Shawn Yates has lead his team to win six of their last eight games.

The first quarter was a fast-paced, action-packed quarter with Devin Collier and Dakota Stone leading the way for the Bears. The first quarter would end all knotted up at 11-11.

The second quarter wouldn’t be much different as both teams once again would swap baskets the entire quarter. Rinehart, Robert Vandervort and Andrew Holcomb would all contribute in the second quarter for the Bears. At the half Rockwood led the Bears 22-21. The Bears would come out hot in the third. Peeler and Rinehart would have the hot hand for the Bears in the third.

Peeler would score nine of his 11 points in the third and Rinehart would also score nine for the Bears in the third. The Bears would stretch their lead to 12 at one point before Rockwood cut it to eight at the end of the quarter 42-34. The Bears would stretch their lead back to 11 midway through the fourth on the hands of Peeler, Vandervort and Rinehart.

Then Rockwood would use some Bears turnovers to cut the Bears led to just 50-46 with about 30 seconds left in the game. Collier would add a bucket to make it a 52-46 game and Rockwood would add a free throw to make it 52-47. Vandervort would put it away for the Bears by sinking 1-2 from the free throw line. The Bears hold on to defeat the Tigers 53-47.
