SWEETWATER-The Sweetwater Mayor and Board of Commissioners sped through a quick meeting Monday night.

Mayor Doyle Lowe honored John Gaines with a Distinguished Citizen Award.

Gaines is a longtime school and community leader in the Sweetwater area. Lowe said Gaines exemplifies what community leadership and Sweetwater is all about.

In other business, commissioners approved the appointments of Richard Bettis and Sara McDougal to the Historic Zoning Commission and approved bid advertisement for a truck for the Street Department.
