SWEETWATER-The search for a shoplifter
at Save-A-Lot on Main Street Tuesday afternoon caused a bit of a
stir.
The call was first paged out to
Sweetwater Police as a robbery, but it was soon determined to be a
shoplifting case, according to SPD Capt. Gary Newman.
The suspect, Jonathan Slack, 23,
Sweetwater, ran behind Seiler Block Co. and police continued the
search near where Slack lived. The suspect had allegedly tried to
grab a woman's person as he ran out the store's door with about $14
worth of food items, but the woman pulled it away.
Slack was captured and charged with the
theft of various food items.
