SWEETWATER-The two incumbent Sweetwater
commissioners up for re-election in June as expected say they will
again run to return to office.
Julian Walton, the current Parks and
Recreation commissioner, planned to turn in his qualifying petition
Friday. Police Commissioner Bill Stockton has a qualifying petition
and plans to turn his in soon as well.
Stockton has been on the City
Commission for 16 years, mainly serving as commissioner over the
Street Department and the Police Department.
Stockton said there are long-range
plans, such as the need for a new Police Department building, but he
said that can only be done as funds become available and it could be
a while before that project is even realistic.
"The main thing is trying to keep our
funds up," Stockton said. "We are operating on a 10-year-old
budget right now."
