Congress was very predictable when they
came to some agreement at the final hour, avoiding the "fiscal
cliff." Now many of them are walking around with their chests
stuck out as thought they are the "heros" who saved us.
This is the largest collection of disconnected individuals we have
ever had in Washington. Not one of them relates to the average
American and what we face every day. That includes Alexander, Duncan,
Fleischmann, and Corker. I have sent them e-mails in the last two
months and I always get a well crafted form e-mail giving me the "official" Republican stance. Blah blah blah--- they do
not get it.
I cannot believe it! They left the
tax cuts out of the agreement. Now, middle class America is going to
pay more taxes. Those who said Congress would not raise taxes on the
working citizens of this country lied to us. You can be sure they
will use the excuse that these were the tax rates all along and the
cuts were temporary at best. That may or may not be true, but the
reality is, citizens will pay more income taxes in 2013 than they did
in 2012 and that is not what we were told would happen.
They want to cut expenses but they have
never done anything about to abuse of the programs that were designed
to help citizens get through a rough time. The abuse of Food Stamps
has been rampant for years and years and little to nothing is done to
stop it. That same thing has happened with welfare, unemployment
compensation and disability. Billions go out to undeserving people
every year and the government does nothing about it. Those who are
opposed to those programs usually feel that way because they know of
the abuse and nothing is being done. That leads to the belief the
programs should be abolished. It is not the programs, it is the
government allowing the abuse.
One last piece of evidence that
Congress is the most inept collection of people ever paid too much
money is, they sat there on their duffs waiting on the "final" draft of the cliff dodging legislation, and did nothing to help those
people along the East Coast suffering as a result of hurricane Sandy.
Those poor people are in trouble right now not next week, not next
month, right now!
