A Vonore area man was arrested last
Wednesday after he allegedly tried to strangle his ex-girlfriend and
threatened to use a gun on her.
Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy C. J.
Williams said it was just after 9 p.m. when he arrived at a home on
Lakeview Estates Road and talked to a woman who said her ex-boyfriend
Jamey Todd Mills had assaulted her.
The alleged victim told Williams she
and Mills were arguing outside when he grabbed her by the hair and
dragged her into the house. The alleged victim said Mills began
choking her, then stopped and attempted to grab a gun. The woman said she ran then and called
911 from a neighbor's residence.
Williams said he saw redness around the
woman's neck and when he found Mills at the residence where the
alleged attack happened, the suspect smelled of alcohol.
Mills admitted he pulled the woman's
hair, but said he hadn't choked her or tried to grab a gun.
Mills was charged with aggravated
domestic assault and allegedly banged his head against the patrol car
window several times on the way to jail.
