Unemployment rate plummets

Businesses across the state went on a big hiring spree just before the holidays, according to state unemployment reports, and Monroe County joined in on the hiring boom as well.

According to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Monroe County's unemployment rate fell from 10.8 percent in October to 9.1 in November.
