MADISONVILLE-A Madisonville man was arrested early Friday morning after he refused to stop for law enforcement, then allegedly tried to wreck several police cruisers.

Madisonville Patrolman Cody Yates said he was sitting in the First Baptist Church parking lot around 1:30 a.m. when a red Ford Probe came up Walnut Street at a high rate of speed, crossed College Street, then sped up as it the driver turned the lights off.

Yates gave chase, keeping up with the dark car by watching for brake lights as the driver made his way down Warren Street, turned onto New Highway 68, then immediately turned onto Community Drive.

Yates lost the car briefly on Hill Loop, then found it again and chased it back onto Community Drive and onto New Highway 68. Other officers had joined the chase by this time and the driver, later identified as Philip Lawrence Goca, locked up his brakes and attempted to wreck his pursuers.
