SWEETWATER- The Lady Cats had a tough time on Friday night
without their leading scorer. Sequoyah capitalized on many turnovers to win the game going away
54-17. Sweetwater head coach Chris Shillings commented after the game." We wish Raven a speedy
recovery and are thoughts are with her now. Tonight was green in honor of her favorite
color," Cheerleaders from both sides had either green bows or ribbons and the players even
had green shoe laces. Sweetwater definitely missed her on Friday. The Lady Chiefs
dominated most of this game. Early on they used steals and defensive rebounds to ignite
their fast break attack. "I think overall the girls played well. There are still areas that we
need to improve on, especially on the defensive side of the ball,"ќ said Lady Chiefs head coach
Eddie Gambrelle. Sequoyah held Sweetwater to just 11 first half points and just 17 overall.
Gambrelle still wants more from his girls, but said they did some good things on offense as well.
“We pushed the ball well tonight and our offense got everyone involved,"ќ said
Gambrelle Danielle Slack led Sequoyah with 14 points. Rachel Thomasson has 8 to lead
Sweetwater. Emily Ingram had 10 points while Hunter Simpson and Savana Atchley each had 9. Chancey
Welshan and Laura Whited scored 4 apiece and Josee Weese and Kassidi Freeman finished with a basket
each. Mcala Rammussen had 3 Tyra Hurst scored 4 points. Nicole Burgess netted 2 points.Chiefs win
