MADISONVILLE-Alcohol may have
been a factor Tuesday when a Madisonville man was ran over and killed by a car on Highway 411.
Madisonville Police Commissioner Bill Spradlin said Michael Erwin,
53, was walking down Highway 411, near the Town and Country Apartments, when he suddenly stepped
into the road and was hit by a Toyota. "We have several
witnesses," Spradlin said, "who described Erwin as stumbling down the road for several minutes
before he was hit. And he was found to have a bottle of beer on him." Spradlin said Erwin's injuries were so severe, paramedics were unable to take any blood from
him for testing. Spradlin said the driver of the car wouldn't
face any charges. "Erwin was wearing a black jacket," Spradlin
said, "and dark jeans. Night had already fallen and it had been raining. The driver never saw him.
It was just a terrible accident."
