After being stalled for years, the Food
City project is ready to go in Vonore with a groundbreaking ceremony
set for 2 p.m. Dec. 5 (Wednesday) at the store site on Highway 411.
Delays came due to the economy's
slowdown and efforts to get a second entrance on Highway 411, but now
Food City is moving forward after working with county officials to
get a red light to ease traffic at the store site.
The jobs and economic impact are
welcome news.
The Food City store is planned to be
47,800 square feet with an additional 10,000 square feet of retail
space to be built as well. The grocery store will have a drive-thru
pharmacy. See full story in the Sunday, Dec. 2, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
