TELLICO PLAINS-The Thanksgiving weekend brought a little relief from all the football and turkey. Basketball was the main attraction as Tellico Plains hosted Sequoyah.

The Lady Chiefs were out to prove their last game, a loss at William Blount, wasn't what their team was really about. Sequoyah fought the road crowd and a Lady Bear comeback bid, for a 67-35 win.

"We all just played better. Everybody made shots, and we just played better," said sophomore Josee Weese.

The Lady Chiefs jumped out to a commanding lead, thanks in part to everyone playing their roles. Savana Atchley got the ball rolling with six points in the first quarter, matching the total for the Lady Bears team in that stanza. The point guard position was key for Sequoyah as Weese with five, Atchley with eight, and Hunter Simpson with 10, combined for 23 points and eight assists.

Sequoyah really moved the ball well throughout the first half. Contributions on the offensive end came from everyone. Laura Whited led all scorers off the bench with 10, Chancey Welshan followed that with nine points of her own. Danielle Slack had eight points, Kassidi Freeman had six and Emliy Ingram ended the night with five points. Katie Torbett and Mattie Torbett both had two points off the bench.

Jasmine Harris attempted to mount a comeback at home, but for whatever reason the shots just didn't fall for the home team. Harris had 13 points to lead the Lady Bears. Tori McMinn finished the night with six points while McKinley Dalton and Brayden Garren ended the game with four a piece. Valerie Cheek knocked down a three-pointer and Hanna Phillips and Baily Hunt both added a basket. Brittany Kirkland rounded out the scoring for the Lady Bears with a free throw.
