In conjunction with the Tellico Plains Christmas Candlelight Walk on Saturday, Dec. 1, The Bookshelf will host a book signing for "Daybreak in the Mountains" by M. McCoy Franklin.  Franklin has written an eagerly awaited memoir about his father, Rev. Dr. C. McCoy Franklin, who was mayor of Madisonville from 1941 to 1945 and pastor at five Monroe County Presbyterian churches from 1935 until his death in 1979.  The book also includes a CD with Rev. Franklin's birdcalls, for which he was famous.  Mr. Franklin will sign books from 5-8 p.m. at 108 Scott Street in Old Downtown Tellico Plains.  Call 423-253-3183 for info.

Thank you to everyone that is sending email to me for printing.  I really appreciate your help. Please send any monthly meeting information to me.  Sometimes I will forget that your organization has a standing meeting on a certain day of the month, such as a Ruritan meeting on the second Tuesday.  I want this column to be for you. I enjoy letting everyone else know what is important to Tellico and area readers.

You can e-mail me at bep98twc@charter.net to have your news reported.
