Kassidi Freeman had quite a night in
the Lady Chiefs final tuneup before the regular season. The senior
center recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10
blocks in Sequoyah's 56-40 win over Maryville.
The game started off slow as both teams
managed their way through to a 15-11 finish in the first. Freeman had
seven points that quarter along with two blocks. Emily Ingram hit one
from outside and finished with the night with 13.
Leila Bangash was all over the floor
for the Lady Rebels scoring in every quarter and finishing with
11. Kayla Tillie was also a factor throughout the night.
After a speedy second quarter the score
was 31-20 at the half. Maryville let some opportunities slip away in
the second half, while Freeman and company pulled away. Hunter
Simpson awoke in the third quarter to score nine and finish with
14 points. Freeman netted six in the quarter as Nadia Steele and
Paxton Robinette really gave her fits down in the paint. Freeman and
the Lady Chiefs wouldn't stay down for long Josee Weese, Danielle
Slack, Chancey Welshan and Savana Atchley all contributed in the
fourth.
Suzanna Guard hit the final shot for
the Lady Chiefs to end the preseason on a high note, 56-40.
