Wildcats win, 59-49; Lady Wildcats
fall, 46-30
Brandon Clark led the Wildcats in their
59-49 win over Oakdale last Tuesday night. Clark had 32 points and 16
rebounds. Clark's dominating night was a pleasant sight for Coach
Chris Schillings.
"He really could have had 50 points
if he made all his shots," said Schillings. Clark's performance
was just as impressive scoring wise as it was on the glass. With 16
rebounds Clark set the tone all night for the defensive
aggressiveness his team needed to get the win.
Feeding off their teamates solid play,
Matt Spencer added nine points and 14 rebounds while Tyler Watson had
9 points and 11 assists.
Raven Jefford had 9 points while Betsy
Mashburn added eight in the 46-30 loss. The Lady Cats had a tough go
of things in the 2012 season opener. Shooting under 20 percent from
the field was the main factor in the loss. Jefford did her best to
run the offense, and Mashburn chipped in but it wasn't enough as
Oakdale captured the win.
Jefford's 18 not enough for a Lady
Wildcats win
Raven Jefford once again led her team
in scoring and unfortunately for the Lady Cats the result was the
same. Jefford piled on 18 points in Sweetwater's 32-29 loss at
Wartburg.
Betsy Mashburn added 4 points while
Mandlyn McNabb also had 4. Nicole Burgess scored 2, but the
difference was just 3. The Lady Cats shot better from the field in
this one but could not come up witht the baskets near the end.
Sweetwater will travel to Oliver Springs on Nov. 23.
Wildcats fall on the road
The Sweetwater Wildcats who started off
the year with a big win on the road, came back down to earth in a
63-34 road loss at the hands of Wartburg. Sweetwater's next game
will be Nov. 23 at Oliver Springs.
