SWEETWATER-A settlement has been
reached in the lawsuit filed two years ago after a fire destroyed a
landmark building in Sweetwater.
The Mildlab building (as it was known
most recently) caught fire July 3, 2010 at the end of the first major
Independence Day celebration and fireworks show the City of
Sweetwater had put on in years. Fireworks had been set off beside the
building just before the blaze began.
The building's owner, Saunook
Pedigo-Guy, head of Southeast Distributors Inc., filed a lawsuit in
November 2010 against multiple parties, including the City of
Sweetwater, the fireworks companies: A.M. Pyrotechnic Displays and
Mark's Pops Inc., seeking up to $20 million in damages. See full story in the Wednesday, Nov. 21, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
