In conjunction with the Tellico Plains
Christmas Candlelight Walk on Saturday, Dec. 1, The Bookshelf will
host a book signing for "Daybreak in the Mountains" by M. McCoy
Franklin. Franklin has written an eagerly awaited memoir about
his father, Rev. Dr. C. McCoy Franklin, who was mayor of Madisonville
from 1941 to 1945 and pastor at five Monroe County Presbyterian
churches from 1935 until his death in 1979. The book also
includes a CD with Reverend Franklin's birdcalls, for which he was
famous. Mr. Franklin will be signing books from 5-8 p.m. at 108
Scott Street in Old Downtown Tellico Plains. Call 423-253-3183

Kenneth Gay will be singing old gospel
music, and Christmas gospel songs, for the Tellico Plains,
Candlelight Walk on Dec. 1 at D&D Antiques on Scott Street, in
Tellico. The music starts around 4 p.m. until the evening.
Rebecca Furniss will join Kenneth sometime in the evening, as she
walks around Tellico as an itinerant fiddler for the
evening.
