MADISONVILLE-A Man accused of killing
his girlfriend in August has been indicted by a Monroe County Grand
Ray Charles White, 54, accused in the
Aug. 24 death of Alonda White after allegedly shooting her during an
argument, has a status hearing set for Jan. 28.
White was originally charged with
second-degree murder, but the grand jury upgraded that charge to
first-degree murder when it heard the case. The reason for the change
is unknown as grand jury proceedings are not open to the public.
White is also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
White was arrested after Monroe County
Sheriff's Detective Conway Mason went to a home on Old Highway 68
near Dead Man's Curve around 11:15 p.m. that night and found a
woman laying on the ground and bleeding from her head.
