Monroe woman charged with TennCare fraud

A Monroe County woman has been indicted in Knox County for TennCare fraud involving "doctor shopping," or using TennCare to go to multiple doctors to obtain controlled substances, according to a state press release.

The Office of Inspector General (OIG), with assistance from the Knox and Monroe County Sheriff's Offices, announced the arrest of Chancie Sara Cruz, 32, of Tellico Plains.  She is charged with two counts of fraudulently using TennCare to obtain controlled substances by "doctor shopping," for prescriptions, with physician office visits paid for by TennCare. Cruz is also charged with two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud
