In conjunction with the Tellico Plains Christmas Candlelight Walk on Saturday, Dec. 1, The Bookshelf will host a book signing for "Daybreak in the Mountains" by M. McCoy Franklin.  Franklin has written an eagerly awaited memoir about his father, Rev. Dr. C. McCoy Franklin, who was mayor of Madisonville from 1941-1945 and pastor at five Monroe County Presbyterian churches from 1935 until his death in 1979.  The book also includes a CD with Rev. Franklin's birdcalls, for which he was famous. Franklin will sign books from 5-8 p.m. at 108 Scott Street in Tellico Plains.  Call 423-253-3183 for info.

Happy birthday to Tristan Bradley, Ashley Fuller, and Tanner Thomas.

Sympathy is extended to my family in the loss of my precious grandmother, Mammie Belcher.  She loved her family and Lord with all of her heart.  Her friends were a great source of joy.  She enjoyed talking with everyone that would call with news for this column during the past 20 years.  She and I shared a guaranteed conversation on the night I prepared my column, making sure we got our stories straight.  Sometimes, we were human and had some errors.  But mostly, it was something we liked to do together.  Thank you for sharing your information with us.

Kenneth Gay will sing gospel music, and Christmas gospel songs, for the Tellico Plains,

Candlelight Walk on Dec. 1, at D&D Antiques on Scott Street. The music starts around 4 p.m. until the evening.  Rebecca Furniss will join Kenneth sometime in the evening, as she walks around Tellico as an itinerant fiddler for the evening.

Thank you to everyone that is sending email to me for printing.  I really appreciate your help. Please send any monthly meeting information to me.  Sometimes I will forget that your organization has a standing meeting on a certain day of the month, such as a Ruritan meeting on the second Tuesday.  I want this column to be for you.  I enjoy letting everyone else know what is important to Tellico and area readers.
