SWEETWATER-A Vonore woman was killed
Thursday afternoon on Glenlock Road near Sweetwater when the car she
was driving crossed the center line and slammed into a dump truck
pulling a trailer.
According to the Tennessee Highway
Patrol, Tina M. Revel, 24, was driving a 2001 Saturn westbound. As
she crested a hill around a curve, she slammed on her brakes, sliding
across her lane into the truck driven by Jordan Gray, 26, of
Sweetwater.
According to E-911 dispatch radio
traffic, Revel's car caught fire. The Highway Patrol said Revel was
not wearing a seat belt. However, Trooper Chris Best's report said a
seat belt would not have made a difference in saving her life.
After impact with the car, the dump
truck slammed into a utility pole. After Gray was extricated from
the truck, he was flown by Lifestar medical helicopter from the wreck
scene to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He
was treated and released.
Best's report said drugs may have been
a factor for Revel.
As standard procedure in a fatal
accident, drug and alcohol tests were administered to both parties
involved.
A citation was issued against the truck
driver, but no criminal charges were filed. The report did not state
what the citation was for.
