A Madisonville man has been located and
arrested a little more than a week after he ran from law enforcement.
Madisonville Patrolman David Wear said
he was on patrol on Oct. 19 around 11:45 p.m. when he saw Michael
Scott Stewart in a gray Saturn in the Wendy's parking lot. Wear
said he knew Stewart had warrants for his arrest and attempted to
stop his as he pulled onto Englewood Road.
Wear said Stewart took off in a
reckless manner, nearly hitting several cars before turning onto
Community Drive then onto Williamsburg Drive where he came to a stop
in a gravel driveway and took off on foot.
Attempts to find Stewart were
unsuccessful, despite using Sweetwater's K-9 unit in the search.
Wear said a police scanner was found in Stewart's car, indicating
he was listening to police traffic during the chase.
Stewart is charged with felony evading,
possession of a police scanner while facilitating a felony and
driving on a suspended license fourth offense.
