MADISONVILLE-Renovation projects at
Vonore Elementary School and Tellico Plains Elementary School are
heading toward the final leg.
"Both projects are going well," said Monroe County Schools Supervisor of Maintenance Charles
Underwood. "We're moving along."
At Vonore Elementary School, the
kindergarten wing, the 1978 wing and the cafeteria/lunchroom has been
completed and all of those areas are occupied and in use.
"We'll be finishing up two rooms late
next week," said Underwood. "The library and clinic should be
finished by the end of the month or early next month."
The next big step in the project will
require some patience from the school.
"The next big step will be the gym," said Underwood.
While the gymnasium is being renovated,
the school will have to use the play room in the basement for
physical activity and recess. Once the play room is ready to be used,
the maintenance crew will close the gym. See full story in the Sunday, Oct. 21, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
